Myself and my team were tasked to write a scholarly paper that integrates a contemporary health issue with theoretically guided research. We were advised to select an issue of significance to nursing practice, patient/populations, and/or the health delivery system, with an emphasis on the influence of self-care/caring practices on quality and safety. Then we conducted a literature search and review. We identified a relevant theoretical framework and related the major concepts to our topic. We also did an appraisal of each article to further understand the scope of the issue and the areas of research that have guided evidence-based practices.
