Through the appraisal and synthesis process, I learned a lot about my groups topic, which is music therapy and its effects on patients’ side effects over the course of their treatment. I found that the literature that my group found reinforced my assumptions for the topic. That being, that I felt that music therapy would have an impact on patients receiving chemotherapy in a positive way. I think that based on the results of the many studies that we have appraised that I will defiantly recommend music therapy to my patients in the future. I think that my group’s research all showed that music therapy can positively influence patient outcomes, helping to support our research topic. For the appraisal and synthesis phase, each member in my group picked an article to appraise. I think this worked really well for us in terms of evenly dispersing the work load. We had one hiccup when one of our appraisals was done using the wrong critical appraisal format. However, to overcome this we all redid this article together. I think we work well as a team to meet our deadlines to a high standard.
